Maryland Facts & Figures

SUNLIGHT IS THE BEST DISINFECTANT

Gas Tax Proposals
The majority of Transportation Trust Fund revenue comes from motorists in the form of gas taxes, vehicle titling and registration fees and other MVA fees, however the TTF operating budget spends twice as much on mass transit as it does on roads.  Only 8.8% of Marylanders use mass transit to commute to work and ridership has only increased by 1/10 of 1% despite a 30% increase in funding.  House Republicans are proposing legislation that will ensure that revenues raised from motorists support the services they use like roads, highways and bridges.

There is still $1 billion in borrowed funds that has not been repaid to the TTF. To solve this transportation crisis, Governor O’Malley could repay the $1 billion to the TTF and not look to motorists to pay the same tax twice to fund transportation infrastructure.

Election Integrity - via James Simpson - Accuracy in Media

After Election Integrity Maryland (EIM) received True the Vote training last year, they began checking voter rolls.  Of 35,000 registrations reviewed, they found problems with 11,000, including 1,566 dead voters!  These voter registration challenges were submitted to local election boards and the MD BOE.  Despite repeated queries about the status of these challenges, neither the local boards nor the MBE have responded in any meaningful way.  Unless you count a response by Rep. Elijah Cummings accusing True the Vote of criminal activity!

The left claims vote fraud is not a problem yet statistics prove otherwise:

-46 states have prosecuted or convicted cases of voter fraud.
-More than 24 million voter registrations are invalid, yet remain on rolls nationwide.
-There are over 1.8 million dead voters still eligible on the rolls across the country.
-More than 2.75 million Americans are registered to vote in more than one state.
-TTV has found 99 cases of potential felony interstate fraud.
-MD TTV affiliates have found cases of people registering and voting after "death."
-Last year TTV uncovered 348,000 dead people on rolls in 27 states:
     - California - 49,000
     - Florida - 30,000
     - Texas - 28,500
     - Michigan - 25,000
     - Illinois - 24,000

Simple fact is, the left does not want fair elections or they would not stand in the way of reform!

Immigration - via James Simpson - Accuracy in Media

O'MALLEY FAKE FACT:  An "independent" report commissioned by Maryland's Dept. of Labor, Licensing and Regulation,  estimated a cumulative cost of $7.4 million for 435 students taking advantage of the DREAM ACT which translates to about $17,000 per student.  The report also assumes that students will obtain high paying jobs in the State of Maryland.

REALITY: Accuracy in Media estimates that 8,000-9,000 students will take advantage of the DREAM ACT at an estimated cost of $40,000 per student, over $300 million. Even if the cost was only $17,000 per student, that would amount to over $136,000 million.  Currently, illegals cannot legally apply for employment in MD.  Even if they could, there are no jobs!

According to Maryland Dept. of Planning, 824,928 students were enrolled in MD K-12 public schools in 2011.  Pew's Hispanic Center national estimate of 6.8% means more than 56,000 children of illegals attend MD K-12 public schools.  Experts suggest this number is actually much higher.

Even so, in 2010 Montgomery County spent approximately $15,000 per student per year.  Multiply that times 13 years of education and we are talking a bill to County residents of nearly $200,000 per student!  How generous the government is with other people's money!

CASA DE MARYLAND - via the Potomac Tea Party Report

"Note that in 2010 they took in $12.3 million with just short of $5 million from government “contracts.”  The use of the word “contracts” here is a little misleading.  Govt. contracts implies they were hired to do various jobs for the government which I am sure is true.  But, technically they should be separating “contracts” from outright “grants” in their reporting.
BTW, CASA even gets funding from the IRS to teach immigrants how to fill out tax returns (what! so they can get their ‘earned income tax credit’!)"
